Sharing childcare responsibilities with other mothers and fathers is a popular and practical way to obtain quality childcare. Playgroups are formed when parents decide to care for each others’ kids, with one parent/set of parents caring for group children on a given day. The kids have fun ~ideally they are seeing old friends and making new ~ and parents can feel good about the caregivers and home environments personally know and trust.
For some parents, playgroups are a way of networking with other families and getting some extra play time for themselves and their children. For others, for example two single mothers working outside the home, the playgroup may can be an economical way to meet their childcare needs.
If you are a parent wanting to connect with other parents about playgroups and joint childcare, please feel free to leave a comment on this page with your general location, a way others can contact you, the age of your children and anything else you think it vital to share at this point.
